Alkahest hit 500,000 wishlists on Steam 🎉
To celebrate, we’re sharing our first Dev Diary!
Take a closer look at how Alkahest’s physics-driven combat is coming together.
Thread 🧵
We’re starting the weekend with a new look at Alkahest during @IGN Live.
Sometimes steel alone is not enough.
In Alkahest, reactive environments, combat, and alchemy collide in unpredictable ways, turning the world itself into part of the fight.
They're actually roughly the same size as the player :)
We don't really want the player to feel like a superhero. Our combat is designed around positioning, timing, and using the environment to your advantage. Enemies won't just stand around waiting for their turn, if you leave yourself exposed or within reach, they can absolutely take advantage of that.
In fact, our goal is that fighting multiple enemies should feel dangerous. Every combat encounter should make you think about the best approach rather than simply charging in and easily defeating five opponents at once.
They're different projects. While both games share some classic fantasy inspirations, we're putting a much bigger focus on alchemy, physics-driven interactions, and immersive melee combat. We're also aiming for a more grounded fantasy world. Alkahest is still in active development, and we're excited to share more as we go.
@GrizzKnight_ @IGN@FutureGamesShow They’re different games. Alkahest is still in active development. If you'd like to follow the project, you can find our Steam page through the link in our bio and wishlist it there.
Fresh off @IGN, we're heading to @FutureGamesShow ⚔️
Forgotten halls do not reveal their secrets easily.
Rusty mechanisms, dangerous paths, and no obvious way forward.
The first gameplay trailer for #Alkahest is here ⚔️
An RPG where the medieval world refuses to play nice.
When things go wrong (and they will 👀), physics and improvisation become your best tools.
We’ve been cooking something new, and it’s almost time to show it!
#Alkahest is joining the @iii_initiative showcase on April 9.
Tune in for a new look at the game, alongside 45 minutes of back-to-back announcements from indie teams like ours ❤️🔥
