If we’re borrowing international comparisons, why stop at Brexit? Let’s compare the economic consequences of anti-resource, high-tax, state-expansion policies wherever they’ve been tried. Those lessons are a lot more relevant to Alberta.
Brexit isn’t even an honest comparison. Britain left a supranational union. Alberta is debating its future within a federation it disproportionately funds while having its economy increasingly constrained by Ottawa. Nenshi is asking Albertans to fear the uncertainty of change while ignoring the certainty of Canada’s current direction. Fear isn’t a vision.
