The Club are happy to confirm that Lewis Hayes will not require further surgery on his ACL, after an exploratory arthroscope this morning confirmed an ACL sprain.
Hayes is expected to be available to commence training at the start of pre-season ๐

Essendonโs Mason Redman and Sam Durham locked in for Sunday nightโs Carlton clash.
Jordan Ridley 50/50 at this stage.
Past players Paul Barnard, Mark Johnson and Adam Ramanauskas keen onlookers at Tullamarine. Love to see it.

Genuinely glad Essendon is doing this and letโs hope the AFL allows it to happen.
End of the first round pick and some NGA guarantees would be a really handy result.
Reminder we will need likely two top 25 picks next year to match for Koby Bewick as well.
"We can reveal tonight that Essendon has started discussions with the AFL about trying to get an assistance package for this year."

I get genuinely baffled when I hear Essendon shouldnโt get any assistance from the AFL because they turned down the Merrett trade last yearโฆ
We would still be in the same position and asking for assistance from the AFL? That argument makes no sense to me!
Whatโs everyoneโs thoughts on if Bartel is in James Hirdโs coaching/footy department group?
Would be a huge get for Essendon if we went down that path!
@lyordior Bit of a difference mate, One option your captain at the time leaves to a rival club, the other is as package from the AFL and you lose nothing?
Done a bit of a deep dive this morning and might make a full video of it this week.
Essendon currently sits 14th (9.6 per game) for I50 tackles for the year showing our lack of ability to get forward half retention.

This needs work asap!
Shattering blow at Essendon.
Young key defender Lewis Hayes has suffered another ruptured ACL.
Was only playing his first VFL match back on the weekend, returning from the same injury he sustained on AFL debut last year
