@RutgersAltRoute A5: having students and parents work on bullying assignments together. If everybody is educated it creates a safe learning environment.
@RutgersAltRoute A4: it’s challenging at times to decide if it is a conflict or bullying. Students and parents use the word often instead of understanding it is a conflict they are experiencing
@RutgersAltRoute A1: I try to get to know the students well to create a safe environment for students. I want them to be able to express themselves freely.
@RutgersAltRoute@Tolerance_org@NEAToday A6: I will make sure parents receive the syllabus via email and handout, they and their child will be required to sign it. I also want parents involvement in SEL and fitness activities.
@RutgersAltRoute A5: I wish In the beginning of the year we showed parents how to use the technology. Moving forward I would like to have tech seminars for the parents.
@RutgersAltRoute A4: I like that the students submit to google classroom, it makes grading easier. I am challenged bc many students did not attend as many live sessions.
@RutgersAltRoute A3: colleagues and I had many google meets, zoom meetings and FaceTime calls. It allowed us to work together to plan lessons and contact students.
@RutgersAltRoute A2: teaching in an urban area limits the technology that students have. Some have access while some do not. Our school was able to distribute technology to only the 4th and 5th grade students.
@RutgersAltRoute A1: I really enjoy using technology while in my health classes. There are so many ways to engage students and cater to different learners. The students respond well to it and at times do not feel like it’s class work but a fun activity.

@RutgersAltRoute My biggest challenge is giving the special ed students accommodations and my regular students see the accommodations and want it too. #altrted#sped
@RutgersAltRoute A7: I think the students need to be aware what the assessments are on. Have them review rubrics so they are comfortable and confident in themselves.
@RutgersAltRoute A6: sending the message that the students are in control of their learning and progress. Build off this by giving specific positive feedback as well as helping students shape their answers. Praising students for their effort increases their effort and helps them overcome obstacle
