Blank check budgets.
Monday and Tuesday Senate Republicans introduced and passed budgets with NO NUMBERS in them. No information on what their plans are. No opportunity for the public to respond—shutting Iowans out of the process again.
Full disclosure….I know very little about politics. I have never contacted a politician before but had a question and his email was public….Curious on how my local senator gathered data to make his decision on HF 68. My question and his response. Disappointing to say the least.
Picture it - the year is 2030. You live in a town of ~2,000 people. The high school you graduated from merged with the town 23 miles away two decades earlier thanks to Iowa GOP underfunding schools, (but that didn’t change anyone’s minds come election time). [a thread]

Our first Education committee meeting is Wed January 11 at 11:30. Usually these are just introductory meetings, and all bills and subcommittees (public hearings for bills) start moving the next week. But instead…🧵2

The fact that he has to defer to staff on this question is completely disqualifying. He doesn’t even know the name of the staff to refer this girl too, nonetheless speak intelligently about her immigration process.
This man does not belong in office.
Like at most town halls, immigration got brought up a lot. Also like at others, there was at least one person with a very specific personal immigration issue that they asked the senator for help on

Kim Reynolds says Joe Biden is sending us back in time. But the only thing sending us back in time is extreme Republicans chipping away at our Democracy.
I’m running to defeat her to be a real voice for Iowa. If elected, I would become the first Black woman Governor in America.
