Thu 18th Jan | Lovely Robin in the sunlight this afternoon. Plenty of Red-legged Partridges on the local fields but I haven't spotted any Grey ones yet despite looking hard.

Mon 29th Jan | Watched a Sparrowhawk attacking a Woodcock. Quite a spectacle but the hawk didn't get thru its defences. #CarolsWalkFromHomeList2024 = 71: Stonechat at Felbrigg NT.

Sun 28th Jan | RSPB Big Garden BirdWatch. We had 17 species in garden during the hour, highlights Siskin & Brambling. Interesting running Merlin sound recorder by feeders - it picked up things we couldn't see. True or false readings though?

Sat 27th Jan | Nice to see some Black-headed Gulls around Felbrigg NT lake again.

Fri 26th Jan | Water quality monitoring day on the local beck. A very vocal Nuthatch entertained us en route at Felbrigg NT.

Thu 25th Jan | Mute Swan bred at Felbrigg NT last year & successfully raised young. The last couple of days one of the juveniles has been on its own on the water meadow. The other 4 have remained with the adults, exercising their wings on the main lake. Don't know whose choice!

Wed 24th Jan | Siskin taking a dip in a muddy puddle. Not seen any reasonably sized flocks this month, just twos and threes. Luckily we have had a couple of them in the garden though.

Tue 23rd Jan | Lots of water still coming off the lake at Felbrigg NT after the rains and a few Mallard were taking advantage of the 'eel run', which is often quite dry.

Mon 22nd Jan | A trip to the prom at Sheringham this morning #CarolsUKYearList2024 = 74: Turnstone, Purple Sandpiper, Grey Plover (fly-by). One of the Turnstones was ringed 3 times - JAC maybe?

Fri 19th Jan | Nice to see the Canada Geese using the new pool beyond the dam at Felbrigg NT - even better to realise that one of them was actually an Egyptian Goose - #CarolsWalkFromHomeList2024 = 70.
