CAUSE IIIIIIIII
COULDN’T EVEN BE HER IF I TRIED
I’M OPPOSITE, I’M ON THE OTHER SIDE
I FEEL ALL THESE FEELINGS I CAN’T CONTROL, OH NO
DON’T KNOW WHY
ALL THIS SYMPATHY IS JUST A KNIFE
WHY I CAN’T EVEN GRIT MY TEETH AND LIE
charli processes emotion like someone who understands herself and observes her insecurities taylor just annotates her feelings like a middle school girl and that’s why they’ll never read on the same level the artistry gap is honestly embarrassing
Charli xcx’s ‘BRAT’ is the first female album since Lady Gaga’s ‘The Fame’ to rank #1 on Billboard’s Year-End Top Dance Albums chart in back-to-back years.
Charli xcx reveals via her Substack that after BRAT was released she thought she “wouldn’t be able to make music anymore” due to feeling “stuck” and “empty” creatively:
“I still love [BRAT], don’t get me wrong but I was itching to move on and was simultaneously frustrated that I was so depleted that I couldn’t. I was stuck, I was empty, I was barren, I was running on the spot in a different kind of way. I couldn’t really even listen to music without feeling depressed. Everything felt monotonous and boring, even if it wasn’t.”
Charli via Instagram on her brand new album for Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of “Wuthering Heights”:
“After being so in the depths of my previous album I was excited to escape into something entirely new, entirely opposite. When I think of Wuthering Heights I think of many things. I think of passion and pain. I think of England. I think of the Moors, I think of the mud and the cold. I think of determination and grit.”
The concept of Lorde dressing as Brat-era Charli for Charli’s show, both dressing as themselves for Coachella, then Charli dressing as Virgin-era Lorde for Lorde’s show. Girlhood is a spectrum.
