First thing I thought about that related to the weeks #gndr1000 topics was Residential School in Canada and movements for recent apology from the government. Heres a video that gives a very brief summary of residential schools https://t.co/wN94iw8aQL
@Leah_Vatcher16 "critics saying that people we not unified during this movement" It shows people working and walking together, which by all means shows them being unified. they should be proud, don't listen to the critics. #gndr1000
Although numbers aren't as large or talked about for men like they are for women, 1 in every 6 men have been or will be sexually harassed in their lives. Thats a 16% chance, which is 16% too high. harassment need to stop #gndr1000 https://t.co/vJ7eu6PdAs
@Leah_Vatcher16 I think its rough that even though minimum was never intended to be a large enough amount to live off of, there are still so many people who are struggling and living off a minimum wage salary #gndr1000
Women earn 79 cents to every 1.00$ a man earns. Its about time that these numbers equal out so there is no discrepancy between the two salaries. #gndr1000

After reading this article from our readings I cannot imagine the amount of pain that poor woman went through because her organs were literally twisting, only for the physician to not follow up or do an examination. #gndr1000 https://t.co/AvHiOiq0qC
@Leah_Vatcher16 I think its nuts that younger children are becoming stressed out due to their lunch debt at school. This is not something the children should have to worry about and will affect them through out their lives with regards to their stress levels #gndr1000
"It's just as hard to be Ken as it is to be Barbie" was the slogan for a campaign that's purpose was to raise awareness to body image issues in men as well as in women because of the media presence #gndr1000
@Leah_Vatcher16 Certainly some alarming statistics. Most people don't seem to take into consideration that men also suffer from body image issues and its not just something women do! #gndr1000
After watching the video about why indigenous people are calling out Canada 150, it put into perspective for me the effects of colonialism and how most people don't think of the people who were there before them. #gndr1000
@samashleywall I agree! The phrasing in general is contradicting. If you think you need to clarify that youโre not being racist then chances are your remark is actually racists #gndr1000
In light of the elections going on right now these are a few of the political leaders responses to how disabled Canadians have been feeling left out of the discussion during the campaign. #gndr1000 https://t.co/muvzhsk8mh
@LedwellAbigail I also like that you went straight for the point here. Which most people need to do, there are too many people tip-toeing around discrimination based around sexuality. People should be treated equal. Plain and simple #gndr1000
This weeks #gndr1000 topic was sexuality. Instead of finding articles about sexuality using poems written by people who may or may not be struggling with their sexuality was fitting. I personally liked "Written from the Closet". https://t.co/4A5MjHdTN3
@Leah_Vatcher16 It's amazing to see the statistics about doubling and even tripling suicide rates in young adults/teens due to conversion therapy, yet some people still see it is a good idea to subject their children to #gndr1000
Seeing as transgender is a big topic in week 4 #gndr1000 I found an article about a march happening in Washington D.C. This march is taking place for black trans women who were brutally murdered this year. Absolutely horrific.

@Leah_Vatcher16 As someone who grew up doing sports and never thinking twice about it- it was eye opening to me to see how some people are treated in the sports industry purely based on who they are, and are forced to undergo such treatment because of it! #gndr1000
After reading this weeks notes in #gndr1000 on intersex I decided to look into it further. I found a journal about an intersex persons experience with puberty. Which for an average individual is scary let alone intersex individual. https://t.co/b9hwBSMjnJ
