I saw Alan Ruck (Cameron from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) in a Duane Reade once when I lived in NYC. Loved his character and wanted to tell him but I truly believe entertainers deserve privacy so I didn’t want to draw attention to him.

He wound up behind me in line so while the clerk was ringing me up, I softly whistled the tune to the song he sang while laying in bed trying not to answer Ferris’ phone call. I whistled the part that accompanied “When Cameron was in Egypt’s Land…” then waited, and a moment later he whistled back the part of the tune that accompanied, “Let My…Cameron…Gooooo…”

Was a perfect exchange.
