There has been, without doubt, a serious failure of delivery by this government when it comes to the exam system and the paper leaks.
And in a democracy, there will always be anger and resentment due to certain failures of delivery (as in this case) against the party in power.
That is the nature of democracy and it is a good thing !
And anyone in the opposition (even in a Congress ruled state) can channel that anger and resentment, gather a crowd of a lac people, get some prominent leader (and common people) to fast unto death and then announce a march to Parliament or protest outside PM’s residence (which, mind you, are both huge security risks).
Mind you, there is a huge difference in terms of security risk between protesting at a designated public place (like Jantar Mantar) and outside PM’s residence or marching to Parliament (beyond a certain designated point).
If, in the name of ‘allowing dissent’, the government of the day allows these limits to be breached and there is a security incident (which is highly possible even if 5% of the protestors are unruly or mischievous elements), then the government itself will be blamed (by the opposition, the courts and by the general public) as it is responsible for maintaining law and order.
And so, to prevent a breakdown of law and order, if the police intervenes, then there is bound to be some violence (as this is a slippery slope !).
But again, there will be blame towards the government for the police crackdown also (‘excessive’) and this will cause further unrest and further protests (as we are seeing).
The blame games will create a natural cycle of escalations.
Just carry on with this cycle for a while and what you get is a Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Arab Spring kind of situation (where there was genuine anger and resentment due to failure of delivery, but there were definitely foreign players also deeply involved or were those also entirely just ‘spontaneous’ and ‘organic’ ?!).
Is this what we truly want (I can think of a few countries who would want this) ?
We have already had a similar situation with the Anti-CAA protests (Infact, the Supreme Court itself criticised the NDA government for not acting firmly with the protesters earlier and thereby allowing things to go out of hand !).
Dammed if you do, and damned if you don’t !
Just to put things into perspective, even during UPA, there were all kinds of protests many many times and there was all kinds of extreme violence (midnight sudden violence, killings, lathi charges, tear gas, water cannons, etc) used against the protestors many many times.
So this is nothing new.
The only aspects that are new now are the proliferation of social media and the excessive foreign intervention (after their successful intervention in several other countries).
I feel any violence, any breakdown of law and order situation is unwarranted and should be condemned and opposed.
In a democracy, ultimately, parliament, elections or courts are the only ways to eventually get what you want, whether we like it or not.
One can criticise, one can protest, but all of this has a limit (as decided by the courts several times!)
Eventually, one simply has to wait till the next round of elections to actually change things.
Just like people here in West Bengal did, which was literally the epitome of extortion, criminal activity, corruption and appeasement. Difficult to find a worse government (maybe Lalu, but atleast he empowered a certain caste which was historically subjugated!).
But eventually, elections (and courts, sometimes) were the answer.
Unless we want a mobocracy or anarchy. In other words, violent revolution or Naxalism (and we know where that leads!).
In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, by 5pm, around 75% votes were cast.
And by the end, it was around 83%.
An additional 8% (83% - 75%).
Whereas in 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, by 5pm, around 90% votes were cast.
And by the end, this figure reached 93%.
An additional 3% (93% - 90%).
Could it be that this additional 5% (8% - 3%) votes cast in the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, were actually ‘chhaapa’ voters (of dead/shifted voters) ??
And this is what SIR has largely cleaned up !!
How can it be a 12-13 lac margin only ?
Total votes casted are around 6.25 crores.
Difference in vote % between BJP and TMC (as per ECI website) is around 5%.
This translates to around 31 lacs atleast.
27 lacs is the ‘logical discrepancies’ excluded cases.
But that too is spread unevenly across constituencies.
It needs to be calculated seat wise the number of actual seats affected substantially by seeing winning margin % vs ‘logical discrepancies’ %.
Atleast do some basic calculations before posting sir.

@1shankarsharma@HindolSengupta Agreed that there is a vast power gap between China and us currently.
No doubt about that.
But why should that become an argument for not doing anything to bridge that gap (like the Nicobar project) ?
@SinchanSaibal@1shankarsharma@HindolSengupta Bravo to her !!👍👏
But unfortunately, after Sonia Gandhi came, Congress policy on this shifted and they started opposing nuclear tests.
Why ?
The analogy is innovative, but the story is incomplete.
Because in this case, the take away rates (tariffs) of the ‘platform’ to cut cash burn will result in higher prices for ‘voters’, which will increase inflation and interest rates even further (burdening the voter further), at a time when jobs are already scarce.
How will the ‘platform’ deal with that fallout at a time of already unprecedented social, economic and geopolitical distress ?
@praveenswami@tapeshbagati I feel here the main reason is a feeling of victim hood in the minds of both Hindus and Muslims thereby creating major faultlines which have been simmering but left unreconciled since very long (pre and post independence). Out there, the process of reconciliation is largely over.
The ‘Idea of India’ that won.
In 2014, India had won. In 2019, Bharata has won.
What does this mean for us and our Nation ?
