I almost deleted it after 12 hours...

The numbers were low, the silence was so loud, and I was this close to pulling it down.

But I left it and then I came online 18hours later...

Nigerians showed up.
Africans showed up.
People of colour from corners of this earth I have never seen showed up. Follows, amplifications, criticisms that made me think harder, suggestions that made the vision bigger, collaborations I did not dare to dream of.

I am shaking a little writing this.
This was never about me. It was never about the numbers. It was about the child somewhere who will one day open an atlas and see themselves.
Not approximated.
Not translated.
Themselves in black skin, brown skin, albino skin. Every shade this earth made when it decided to be generous.

They will learn in their own image. They will see science wearing their complexion. They will not have to imagine themselves in another colour
