Franco Colapinto has come away from the day with a bit of back pain 😅
"It’s a shame there are so many bumps, because it’s also hard on the body. Our backs suffer.
I’m young and I’m already finding it a bit tough. I can only imagine how it must be for older drivers😂".
Franco Colapinto points out that he spent several laps behind Piastri and that his tyres overheated considerably.
💬 "Sticking close to another car here isn’t free, it comes at a very high cost.
That has a major impact on your tyre wear and, subsequently, on your race pace"
Even though he has spoken out in support of Esteban Ocon in the press… Pierre Gasly doesn’t seem particularly affected by Ocon’s departure from F1 next year 😭😭
💬 Ocon: “Pierre hasn’t sent me a message. He’s speaking out in support of me in the press.”

🚨 | It would appear that the bumps on the track at COTA are affecting Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto.
The car is stiff, which exacerbates the problem.
But the overall pace is good.
💬 | Colapinto : "We’re focusing on Sunday; we’re trying to find the right balance for the race. The car is very stiff and the track has a lot of bumps. We’ll try to make a leap forward for tomorrow."

💬 | Gasly : "At the moment, I’m not feeling very comfortable in the car, there’s a lot of understeer, and it’s bouncing all over the place. We’ll have to work on it for tomorrow."

End of FP2:
🇫🇷Gasly - P12
🇦🇷Colapinto - P15
There’s been an improvement compared to FP1. Pierre focused on the soft tyres (qualifying and race pace), whilst Franco focused on race pace with the hard and soft tyres.
I see a lot of people wondering why Alpine didn’t replace everything in Malaysia, but it’s not that simple.
Mercedes has complete control over the parts and determines when a part has reached the end of its service life so that it can be replaced.
🚨 | OFICIAL: Franco Colapinto will receive a penalty this weekend. 10 places.
He's going to use his fourth control electronics unit (three are allowed).
❌ Pierre Gasly had four laps deleted for track limits in FP1, and Franco Colapinto had three.
Track limits will be a major talking point this weekend, surely.
