En Honduras, la justicia solo es efectiva frente a delitos comunes, especialmente cuando estos quedan registrados en video y se vuelven virales como una maestra golpeando a un alumno, un padre golpeando a su hijo (o viceversa), “influencers” rapándole el cabello a un menor, etc. Pero quienes cometen fraude electoral, desfalcan y saquean al Estado o utilizan su poder e influencias dentro del aparato estatal para hacer daño, rara vez enfrentan consecuencias legales. Por el contrario, suelen ser recompensados con cargos en el extranjero, se postulan y son reelectos para posiciones de elección popular o buscan refugio en escaños del PARLACEN, entre otras formas de impunidad institucionalizada.

Basta comparar esta realidad con lo ocurrido en Bolivia, donde Fernando Cerimedo sí fue detenido a pesar de ser él una figura pública afín al actual gobierno boliviano y alguien muy cercano a poderes políticos sumamente influyentes en América Latina. Que la justicia haya actuado incluso contra un individuo con ese nivel de conexiones políticas deja en evidencia que Honduras, al compararla con países de la región que enfrentan desafíos similares, se encuentra sumida en el subdesarrollo institucional más profundo de América Latina.

- The euro is likely undervalued compared to where a Deutsche Mark would sit, which makes German exports cheaper and more competitive

This is a bad position to take: both electorally and economically.
