The Topuria vs Gaethje fight smells fishy:
- American fighter.
- Held at the White House for the 250th anniversary of Independence.
- Donald Trump and the whole country watching it.
- You were undefeated and today you looked totally off your game.
- You've knocked out better legends.
RIGGED FIGHT?
As an American, I have a natural, God-given, constitutionally implied 2nd Amendment right to Claude’s Fable 5.
The Founders did not cross the Delaware so I could be stripped of what is dutifully mine!
@kunchenguid@Steve_Yegge Agree. The main value I got out of it, was casting a wider net into my repo to reorganize and fix code while maintaining context perfectly. It accomplished what I needed in 1 turn, which took 2 hours. Opus could’ve delivered the same thing in 2-3 turns in probably 1.5 hours. 🤷🏼♂️
This isn’t a straightforward issue, but it will become a key point in one of the most significant policy decisions of our time.
Debates around the seriousness of this technology are valid across many perspectives.
Anthropic has faced criticism for their “doomer” marketing approach. There’s an aura around making a product so powerful that it seems too advanced for public access. Such messaging drives demand more than many other tactics. People naturally gravitate toward what they want but can't have, creating a sense of scarcity. Whether this scarcity is real or artificial is the question.
This situation isn't black and white. I believe Anthropic's leadership knows that this positioning benefits their business, but I also think they genuinely believe in what they say. There’s no point in making false claims they don’t believe in; dishonesty wouldn’t serve them well.
Additionally, I think Anthropic's researchers and engineers have a positive outlook on their models. They want to develop advanced, engaging, and innovative technology. Being engineers, they are likely concerned about their work being used maliciously, so they aim to be transparent about its potential. I see Project Glasswing as a well-intentioned effort to help individuals and organizations protect themselves.
Once you understand a model’s capabilities and its trajectory, it’s wise to alert the public about what it can do.
Owning and controlling the most powerful technology at scale entails a responsibility to steward that power carefully. I also advise caution regarding government overreach, which might conflict with the official vision of artificial intelligence.
Conversely, I acknowledge the government’s need to intervene. If a tech company claims their service could be weaponized for cybersecurity threats, ignoring that would be irresponsible. The government’s role is to protect the public’s interests (though I know this is complex), and understanding the reality of such a weapon is in everyone’s best interest.
If a product is portrayed as dangerous or threatening, governments will want to step in. Yet, trusting the government or a small group of wealthy private individuals controlling such immense power raises questions.
These are challenging issues, and both sides seem to have reasons rooted in transparency and justified concerns.
Ultimately, what happens in the next year will likely influence the future for decades.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.

Fable is actually really good for coding up projects and games. However, most of what I've seen has been "look, Fable cloned [insert tool or game here]." Even all of my tests have been that basically.
I think it's just proving that coding isn't really the bottleneck. Having good, novel, ideas that solve new problems or present a unique game concept and then really dialing in all the finer details is what really matters. AI accelerates the speed at which we can get them out... But actually good and new ideas feel further and further between these days.
@kunchenguid Each have their own unique pro and con. Purely coding, Claude feels outdated at this point. Shocked they haven’t added obvious quality of life features yet.
While everyone is fighting over valuation, allocations, or how it’s going to trade today…
Let’s just appreciate awesome days like this in the market. They’re rare, exciting, and one of those “you had to be there” moments.
