RTs would be cool :D
I may be biased but I certainly had a choice and he was my number one
Brooks’ and Jimmy’s creativity along with their ability to execute ANYTHING their brilliant minds could think of is what makes them both top 5s and my personal top 2
Their upbringing is a huge contribution to their creative and technical freedom
While Jimmy’s bloodline wasn’t directly influencing and educating, his parents were unbelievably supportive and put him in a local super group of teachers that wrote in a band called Looney Booms(spelling?)
He was the youngest in the class I believe as a preteen and would perform the impossible. Songs like The Black Page by Zappa or Rite of Spring by Stravinsky. And not just on myriad percussion instruments but as vocal skits with props and decoration
There is a video of the latter somewhere but I couldn’t find it on YouTube. I will ask the Sullivan family for it but imagine a young talented mind surrounded by pure musical chaos and beauty. His neurological connections were out of this world
Brooks on the other hand, got up, had cereal, and went on with the family to practice drums each and every day. Led by his incredibly talented and unfortunately late father Chuck Wackerman, the boys had one of the most well rounded musical upbringings that I have ever heard tale of
Deeply connected, the Wackerman brothers, 3 drummers and 1 incredible bassist, went on to grace the stages and studios of the biggest artists in the world. The oldest Chad, playing w my two favorite aliens, Zappa and Holdsworth
When I heard Brooks play w Infectious Grooves he was immediately in my top 5. He was 15/16 at the time and the incredibly creative mastery of a funk groove and heavy metal hybrid absolutely blew my mind, as well as Jimmy’s and Matt’s

Brooks has ALWAYS been an influence on us as a band and teenagers, years before Avenged wrote its first song
Obviously I’m curious as to how Jimmy would’ve approached the last two records as the creative freedom was far more boundless than before
I do know two things, however-
1) They’d be different
2) They’d be extraordinary in the deepest sense of the word, just as they are now
The gratitude I have to consider both brothers is unquantifiable
