Last month, I warned that Kenya was walking into one of the worst Form One dropout crises since 2000, and children under 18 would pay the price for political speeches.

Today, Citizen TV confirmed the warning.

His parents trusted President William Ruto’s directive: "All students should report to school without school fees."
Stanley reported.
The school turned him away.

Today, that same child is working manual jobs, work that is illegal for a minor under Kenyan law.
In the area where this report was recorded, over 20 students have already dropped out after following the same directive.

A day earlier, the Education PS went on national TV claiming 99% enrollment. Is this the 99%?

Parents were told one thing.
Children experienced another.

That is not a policy failure; that is deception by the William Ruto government.

When leaders lie to parents, children pay with their future.
And no statistic can hide a child forced out of school.
