Pregnant women across this country are being reported to child welfare and police based on drug tests that reportedly produce FALSE POSITIVE results as much as half the time. These stories are troubling for any mother but Black mothers are reportedly more than TWICE as likely to be flagged to authorities making an already broken system even more dangerous for our community.
As President, I would read 10 letters a day sent to me by ordinary Americans. At the Obama Presidential Center, we’ll have some of the letters I read — and responded to — every night. I still get emotional reading them, and it’s one of my favorite exhibits.
