Since you have the opportunity to communicate with them directly, maybe you could hint that they really need a tier above Platinum — something that could directly compete with products like EtherFi VIP and Kast Private. I think there’s definitely room in their lineup for a truly premium/private tier.
Yes, you highlighted a very important downside regarding the WPAY token. I think this is actually one of the weakest points of the whole setup.
The liquidity is extremely thin. Even buying around $5,000 worth of WPAY can move the price by 2–3%. On top of that, you have to buy it inside the app, where you effectively lose another couple of percent on the purchase, and then again when you eventually sell.
And, of course, the token itself is volatile. It can easily move 5%, 10%, or even 15% in either direction. So if you buy only the minimum amount required for your tier, a relatively small price drop can push you below the required threshold and downgrade your status back to Private. You may end up constantly having to monitor and top up your WPAY balance just to maintain the tier.
I also don't really like the fact that the requirement is percentage-based. It creates a natural ceiling on how much money people will want to keep on the platform. For example, if you deposit $500,000, you would need to hold at least $50,000 in WPAY. Buying $50k worth of such an illiquid token would significantly pump the price by itself, and exiting that position later could be just as problematic.
So, in my opinion, this is a very narrow and problematic part of the product. It would be much more convenient and predictable if each status simply required users to hold a fixed number of tokens, rather than tying the required amount to a percentage of their deposit.
@0xVishnya I’d definitely be very interested to hear your opinion on the Wirex One card (bespoke). There’s no question that its killer feature is the 8% cashback, which they actually do pay, combined with a fairly generous monthly limit.
That said, there are quite a few “buts” that make me wonder whether a more reliable and stable card with lower cashback might actually be the better option overall, such a Plasma (Platinum) or EtherFi (VIP).
So I’m genuinely curious to hear your take on it and whether you think the extra cashback is worth the trade-offs.
