I finally read the ending of Deathly Hallows and… what the hell did they do to this in the movie?

I loved Harry Potter as a kid, but I only recently decided to actually read the books. What a journey.

And now I’ve realized that Voldemort does NOT, in fact, peel away and die looking like he’s having the worst case of eczema imaginable. 😂

The book ending is so much better. Harry explains exactly where Voldemort went wrong and exactly why he's going to lose. It reduces this supposedly unstoppable monster back into the scared boy he always was.

Then it's over.

The body of one of the most feared wizards in history is lying motionless on the floor, while the boy who had his family taken from him is standing victorious over him.

God, that ending is good.

Why didn't Yates just do the book ending?

PS: I still think the “19 years later” part is just as bad in the book as it is in the movie.
