“While we were on the move, we spotted an enemy drone. And although it’s harder to focus in bright sunlight, I locked onto the target through the optical sight and opened fire. As a result, the Shahed was shot down and crashed in a field,” Artem says.

Russian troops have now entered the centre of the Strategically Crucial city of Pokrovsk in Ukraine, with its invaluable railway junctions and one of the biggest Coal mines in the region.

Pokrovsk was originally named Grishino, it was founded in 1875 by the Russian Ministry of Railways to establish a station that grew to make it a crucial strategic hub.

The town grew around this station and by 1881, a locomotive depot was built, in 1883, the station was enlarged, spurring further development and investment. The city now looks set to return to Russian control after a long absence.
