I remember asking a 3rd year teacher what she’s learned as a new teacher.  Her advice:

1) Pay attention to the needs of your kids… not just the standards. 

2) Talk through behavior issues… don’t JUST assign consequences

3) Rely on your colleagues

4) Take things in stride
