Deputy Director at Chawton House. Joyously poking about in C18 literature. Views my own, especially those pertaining to cheese and the Eurovision Song Contest.

A fab Day 1 of the #QuillsandCharacters conference, with panels on epistolary novels, letters & instruction, posthumous reputations, intimacy & duplicity, & Jane Austen. And a brilliant keynote by Nicole Pohl on the @Montagu_Letters project. Thanks to all who joined us!

@IsabellaRosner Well the responses have given me great enjoyment. Not sure what is but would be interested to see what it is coiled around - was thinking of the slightly odd things bereaved Victorians did with hair.
Thanks to Marilyn Francus & fellow contributors, but also especially to @gdow12 who, during her time at Chawton House, made so much of what I write about happen, and has made so much of what we do now possible.
