What happens to “Think Big” when every division of Amazon needs to make a profit? What happens to “delight the customer” when your customer is the US Department of Defense? At Amazon, the ideological mask is slipping off: https://t.co/1DwpFPSN9C
A new edition of Amazon Chronicles, including a link roundup of the last few weeks of Amazon news, and a sketch of how @tcarmody is thinking about Amazon and the other tech giants these days https://t.co/GxjczLq3uD
I've heard from readers (including my own wife) who didn't receive a copy of the newest newsletter. By Revue’s own count, hundreds of subscribers weren’t sent an email. Many others routed it to spam. I’m trying to fix this. You can read it on the web here: https://t.co/gyhF5D0bLj
Dear readers: I am in the process of resurrecting the Amazon Chronicles on a new platform, but migrating is taking longer than expected. Please bear with us! We’ll have new newsletters about the Amazon Cinematic-Industrial Universe soon!
Is Amazon just bad at retaining certain kinds of workers, or do they have a really evil, possibly self-destructive (but coherent) strategy? (Also, if Amazon is uniquely bad, what's everyone else's excuse?) https://t.co/HwC95Yaxqv
A note from @tcarmody:
For the last few weeks, I’ve been making big decisions about the future of Amazon Chronicles. I’m sorry I haven’t had more updates, but I had to get that all sorted first. Please expect exciting news (and new posts, etc.) soon.
Aha! I forgot to post the link to my story on Bezos/Amazon’s transition to chair and Andy Jassy’s eventual elevation to CEO. Remember when you could set up RSS to do this for you? GOOD TIMES. Meanwhile, enjoy: https://t.co/lRKmT2ehqW
Also in this newsletter: a promise to address AWS's suspension of Parler and the subsequent lawsuits (still doing reporting!) and the lawsuit against Amazon for colluding with the Big 5 book publishers. But the first story in the queue goes first, and this one is a good one.
Amazon is offering custom-made t-shirts as part of a soon-to-be-expanding line of everyday basics. @tcarmody tried to find out where and how these shirts are made, and compare Amazon’s offering to what its competitors have been doing. https://t.co/MikRQIsyd1
What's the evidence? Amazon's local real estate partner, who's bought up three other former Detroit-area sports sites for development by Amazon, has moved to buy the Joe site and develop it for... somebody.
Might not be Amazon! But what this tweet presupposes is... maybe it is?
Just published: a new newsletter about today’s Amazon announcement regarding its development plans in & near the city of Detroit.
* What happened with the HQ2 sweepstakes again?
* What’s an “Extra Large Fulfillment Center”?
* Why do cities go bankrupt?

Circumstantial evidence suggests that it's *possible* (is that hedging enough for you?) that Amazon may take on more projects in Detroit, specifically at the Joe Louis Arena site downtown. Because of its location, this would likely NOT be a fulfillment center, but office/retail.
