My dad said “oh my family and I are going to the December retreat. A couple of days for a church program”

The man looked at my dad and said “ oh wow, you people must be so miserable”
My father laughed and just walked away

Here’s what that man do not know.

You say you celebrate Christmas,

No we actually celebrate it more by spending days with “The birthday Boy”

It doesn’t matter how rich or poor you are. We cook in the same pot and everyone eats from that pot. Community don’t get more united than that.

We take time away from the chaos in the world, we try to go somewhere remote, and just be in Gods presence. Sermon after sermon, hymn after hymn, we are reminded of what is most important in life. God and Eternity.

Different ages. Different peer groups.

Everybody is taught the word of God at their level.

For us it’s not just church.

It’s community

It’s soaking deeply in Gods word.

We come back many times exhausted bodily but you best believe our spirits are refreshed and replenished. Ready to face the next year armed with the glory of God.

We still eat all the rice and chicken after. We don’t miss anything really.

I gave my life to Jesus in a December retreat.

I go filled with the Holyspirit in a December retreat.

I won’t trade the DL retreat for anything.

Thank God for the DL retreat.
