I attended the inauguration of the Oyo State Council of Elders by His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde.

The Elders Council comprises of Chairman - Dr. Saka Balogun, Co-Chairman - Elder Wole Oyelese, H.E. Hamid Gbadamosi, H.E. Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja, Chief Jacob Adetoro, Chief Sunday Ogunlade, Ambassador Ronke Adefope, Chief Nureni Akanbi, Chief Ademola Eyinade while the Chairman, Advisory Council is Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN

This is fulfillment of the resolve of His Excellency to continue to tap into the rich experiences, knowledge and expertise of our respected elder statesmen in Oyo State.

PDP Appoints Hon. Ajisafe Kamoru Toyese as National Vice Chairman (South West).

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) @OfficialPDPNig has, on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party approved the appointment of Hon. Ajisafe Kamoru Toyese from Osun State as the Party’s new National Vice Chairman (South West).

Hon. Ajisafe Kamoru Toyese, a lawyer and engineer who also served as the Deputy Director General of the 2023 PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, is to complete the tenure of the late National Vice Chairman (South West), Hon. Soji Adagunodo, who died on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

The appointment of Hon. Ajisafe Kamoru Toyese which was ratified at the meeting of the South West Zonal Executive meeting of Thursday, January 25, 2024 is in accordance with the provision of Section 46 (7) of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).

A practical political mobilizer, Hon. Toyese brings on board the leadership of our Party a combination of his intellectual aptitude and years of experience, proficiencies and connections at the Local Government, State, Zonal and National Levels of Party and political engagements.

The PDP is proud of Hon. Toyese’s dedication to the stability, growth and success of the Party, especially in his exceptionally untiring roles in mobilizing massively for the Party at various levels.

Such commitment is evident in Hon. Toyese’s roles as the Secretary, Campaign Committee for the election of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as Osun State Governor, Deputy Chairman of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s Campaign Committee, Deputy Director General Atiku/Okowa Campaign Committee in addition to other critical assignments including serving as National Delegates in PDP Conventions.

The PDP congratulates Hon. Toyese on his new assignment and charges him to use the position to further unite, galvanize and energize the Party in the South West Zone while working with other leaders for the continuing success of our great Party.

We received the Board of Trustees of our great party, @OfficialPDPNig led by the Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, on a visit to commiserate with us over the Bodjia incident.

In my remarks, I thanked them for their support and encouragement as we grapple with this issue and work on short-, medium- and long-term measures to support the victims, tighten security and restore the areas affected.

Ibadan Explosion: @OfficialPDPNig Commiserates with Gov. @seyimakinde, Oyo People
…Hails Makinde’s Prompt Emergency Intervention.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) commiserates with Governor Seyi Makinde, the government and people of Oyo over the deadly explosion in Bodija area of Ibadan, the State capital, describing the incident as tragic.

Our Party is saddened over the explosion which claimed the lives of citizens, critically injured others and left many displaced following the destruction of homes and property in the area; a situation that has brought agony and pain to the people of Oyo State at this critical time.

Our Party salutes Governor Makinde for his exceptional show of leadership in his swift response and intervention by visiting the scene of the incident and immediately providing all necessary emergency aids and support to the victims and their families, including prompt evacuation of victims, payment of medical bills, temporary accommodation to the displaced and assurance of support for their rehabilitation.

Such prompt intervention by Governor Makinde helped in saving more lives and bringing succour to the victims and their families.

The PDP calls for an investigation into the remote and immediate cause of the blast so as to bring the culprits to justice and prevent such tragic occurrence in the future.

Our Party prays for the repose of the souls of dead and speedy recovery for the injured.

Governor @seyimakinde of Oyo State, Others Emerges Leadership Governor of the Year 2023.

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde has added yet another feather to his list of accomplishments with an award by the Leadership Newspapers as one of the 2023 Governors of the Year.

In a report published by the newspaper on Monday, December 11, 2023, Governor Makinde was amongst three other Governors across the country who were carefully selected by the organization for this year’s award.

According to the newspaper, Governor Makinde’s selection as Leadership Governor of the Year 2023 was based upon providing exceptional leadership at a time the people of Oyo state were in dire need of government assistance, especially, by investing in infrastructural development to keep up with the growing population of his state, creating jobs in both the formal and informal sectors, and ensuring that Oyo State is among the top five states in Nigeria with year-on-year growth in internally generated revenue (IGR).

Governor Makinde’s achievements in areas of human capital development, infrastructure, economy, agriculture, education and a host of others, since assuming office in 2019 has earned him several awards.

In January 28, 2022, the Governor bagged the same award as Governor of the year 2022 by the Vanguard Newspapers for making development of the people of Oyo State his primary concern and priority.

Just recently, the Nigeria Social Media Week Group during its 2023 quarter 4 conference, named Governor Makinde as the most loved and most admired Governor in Nigeria.

On November 27, 2023, the PINK, an organization whose acronym stands for Prestige, Integrity, Nobility and Knowledge, conferred on Governor Makinde in Lagos state as the 2023 Governor of the year.

This is in addition to the award of excellence, dedication to service and nation building, conferred on him by the National Solemn Assembly in Abuja on Friday December 1, 2023.

Governor Makinde’s extraordinary leadership style, performance and dedication to the people is a quality worth celebrating, and the people of Oyo state are lucky to have a governor like him.

Yesterday, we received the new General Officer Commanding, 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Bamidele A. Alabi and his entourage, on a courtesy visit. The visit gave me another opportunity to thank the men and officers of the army for their role in securing our dear State.
