As Mayor of the @TownOfCaledon and on behalf of Council, I congratulate Chief Stacey Laforme of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (MCFN) @mcfirstnation on his retirement. I thank Chief Laforme for his years of partnership and dedication. The Town of Caledon is honoured to have been the first municipality in Peel to have a memorandum of understanding with the MCFN, advancing reconciliation and fostering a collaborative and mutually beneficial relationship. We remember fondly and with great relevance in 2018 when the Town of Caledon presented Chief Laforme with a Wampum Belt, commissioned by an Indigenous artist and inspired by the 200 Anniversary of Ajetance Treaty 19, which encompasses the Town of Caledon. Chief Laforme has served his community as Chief and Councillor for over 20 years. He is also a poet and storyteller. I thank him for his commitment and devotion to the MCFN Treaty Lands and territory.

Hey @CBCNews your Buffy Pretendian story rings false. I did quick search of adoptee birth certificates in Mass: “An amended birth certificate, created after an adoption is finished, lists the names of the adoptive parents just as if the child had been born to them originally.”
We’ve teamed up with our friends at @canadapostcorp to create a scholarship that’s designed just for Indigenous students who are back in university, college, or trades school after having to take a break of at least a year.

A friend shared this photo of my dad in NYC today. This image of the boy he was when he went to St. Michael’s breaks my heart. But it also leaves me in awe of the man he was able to become - how he reclaimed the beauty of our culture, language & community in spite of it all. 🧡
Last night, we published a NEW episode of Stolen: The Search for Jermain to report on new developments in her story. Jermain went missing almost five years ago. The 23-year-old mother of two was last seen on security footage in downtown Missoula, Montana. https://t.co/3XD1siTwBJ
