Uganda has not recorded any new confirmed case of EVD since Monday 25th May 2026. However, the total number of contacts to the confirmed cases have increased. Most of these contacts are health workers.

Ebola is a severe viral disease that spreads through direct contact with infected bodily fluids or contaminated materials. It is preventable when proper precautions are followed.

✔️ Report symptoms early to health workers
✔️ Follow Ministry of Health guidelines strictly

On April 17, 2026, at Lira Regional Referral Hospital, Uganda launched Lenacapavir a breakthrough in HIV prevention.

Tomorrow, 17 April 2026, the Minister for Health, Dr. @JaneRuth_Aceng will launch Lenacapavir Injectable PrEp at Lira Regional Referral Hospital.
Lenacapavir is a long acting injectable antiretroviral medication used to prevent HIV. This is NOT a vaccine.
It is given twice a year; every six months to people at substantial risk of acquiring HIV who have a confirmed negative HIV test. #MOHatWork
