And also infidelity is not one of the "ups and downs" of marriage.
Disagreements, financial difficulties, illness and changing circumstances are.
But betrayal is a violation of the very trust upon which marriage rests. We should be careful not to normalise it in the name of weathering "marital storms."
Key to marry someone who shares your understanding of what marriage itself is. And I don't mean compatibility, I mean worldview. Two people can share values, interests and even temperaments, yet fundamentally disagree on what marriage should feel like, what they owe each other, what constitutes sacrifice, and what should never be negotiable. (Each may simply be modelling the marriage they grew up within)
Because some of the descriptions I read on here make marriage sound like a soulless business arrangement. 😂
If you're someone with a romantic, perhaps even slightly delulu view of marriage, please marry someone who sees it that way too. And I don't mean believing marriage will always be fair weather. You can be perfectly aware of its difficulties and still believe it should be a place of affection, tenderness, playfulness and genuine delight in each other. At least, you shouldn't have to spend your marriage convincing your spouse that it's neither a conference hall nor a battlefront.
Imagine spending years arguing over what marriage is supposed to be in the first place.
Much of what a husband provides, a woman may already have received in her father’s house.
What marriage promises beyond that is being chosen as a partner, having her inner life matter to the person she shares her days with.
Provision is indispensable, but it cannot answer every complaint about loneliness/neglect or emotional emptiness.
One wonders how often “I give her everything” means everything he can account for, while what she is asking for is to feel considered without having to make a case for herself each time.
You know what frustrates me about conversations like this?
The first wife is almost always immediately cast as the villain.
Her pain is dismissed with, “But what he did isn’t haram.”
Yes. Something being permissible in itself does not mean every way of pursuing it is automatically righteous, merciful, wise, or free from wrongdoing.
Do you really think Allah did not take her feelings into consideration?
What I find very disturbing is how dispensable we make wives sound in this part of the world.
“Send her to her father’s house”. “Divorce her”.
“Take another and let her have competition”.
Almost like they are objects to be replaced and not partners to reconcile and live with.
An amānah remains an amānah, regardless of your marital status.
If a friend confides in you about her struggles, her marriage, her family, her fears, or something deeply personal, that trust belongs to her. It isn’t yours to pass on simply because “I tell my husband everything.”
Sit her down, pour your heart out about how deeply she hurt you… then just set a 3am alarm, wake up for tahajjud every single night, add fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, and top it all off with plenty of du’a. Problem solved, right? Insha Allah, everything will fall into place. Just be patient. Acigaba da haquri
This generation sucks at friendships and relationships. It's not just media, it's about fear. Fear of being real, fear of getting hurt, fear of sticking around when things get tough. We ghost instead of talk, swipe instead of stay and chase validation from strangers while ignoring the people who actually care. We want deep connection but run from efforts. We confuse chaos for passion and drama for love. We keep scores, hold grudges and avoid the hard conversations that actually build trust. At the end of the day, we're lonely, disconnected and wondering why nothing lasts. That's the brutal truth!

Dear men.
Never fall to 50/50 in marriage, do not agree for even 90/10, it should be 100% responsibility from you and you also receive 100% submission, all this sharing responsibilities is recipe for disrespect, even if you do not have borrow and pay her back later.
