@JohnRoss49 This lengthy visa process is destroying our academic careers. The Australian government is ignoring brilliant students and doesn't respect our time and future. It is very painful that we are losing our lives days.

Time frame for processing 90% of PhD students' visa applications morphs from 9 months last August to 12 months by January to 17 months by June, then 4 months in July. Figure excludes applications left unprocessed due to security checks that can take years. https://t.co/ReSHHmopwR
Australia is a great place to come and do research, but the visa process is currently giving huge trouble to many worthy researchers. The government needs to sort this out!!

We are in a very difficult situation as we have no idea how long it will take to get our academic visas. Our hard-earned scholarships are at stake and we might lose them if we don't get our visas soon!!
📣BREAKING: The International Community of Iranian Academics (ICOIA) in Australia has sent an urgent letter co-signed by 100+ Australian academics to @ClareONeilMP & @andrewjgiles today regarding delays in visa processing for Iranian PhD students. This issue must be addressed now
Plenty of issues for international students trying to study in Australia.....we had a joint UQ-IIDT PhD student delayed for his time at UQ for almost a year, for no apparent reason...
@DrNatOsborne Thank you for your support dear Dr Osborne Its really unfair to have no clear estimation of how long we should wait for an academic Visa. @ClareONeilMP@andrewjgiles@ausgov
