Be Smart’s @DrJoeHanson Trying to land a plane. Great job targeting the misconception of how modern airliners, don’t just “fly themselves”, even while highly automated. The landings were actually pretty good considering no training! https://t.co/SPJ2lJn6Jd

What is #WorldPilotsDay?

✈ Today is World Pilots' Day

* The tradition began by @IFALPA's Turkish branch TALPA and has been celebrated worldwide since April 26, 2014

* It honors the initial flight taken by Mehmet Fesa Evrensev, the first Turkish pilot, over his country in 1912

Why know the MSA?

Scenario: Total electrical failure during an instrument approach in IMC.

Ideally, you'd go missed.

The problem – you can't track the missed approach without nav displays.

You can't contact ATC for vectors either (radios out).
What do you do?
