Loyola Chicago fired her in 2016 after a university investigation prompted by a mass player exodus and allegations of player mistreatment.

Ten of the team’s 12 returning players reportedly sought transfers or releases, while former players accused Swoopes of emotional abuse, humiliation, belittling, verbal mistreatment and creating a hostile environment.

That context seems worth remembering whenever she is celebrated by the WNBA or when she lectures everyone else about players, coaches and the proper way to support women’s basketball.
