As part of confidence-building measures ahead of the Legislative Assembly Elections 2026, Hon’ble DEO (North) & Returning Officer, AC-167, Smt. Smita Pandey visited Basanti Colony under Ultadanga PS, accompanied by Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, Shri Ajay Nand, IPS, Additional Commissioner of Police (I) Shri Devendra Prakash Singh, IPS, Additional Commissioner of Police (VI), Shri Ashesh Biswas, IPS, and Deputy Commissioner of Police, East Suburban Division, Shri Amit Verma, IPS.

The visit reinforced a strong security presence on the ground and reassured residents of firm arrangements to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling.
