My prediction is LSU in three games and honestly I think the reason is pretty simple.
This is finally starting to look like the lineup many expected LSU to have all season.
Earlier in the year, LSU felt too dependent on the top of the order. Maci Bergeron was battling through injury, Tori Edwards went through cold stretches, and innings would sometimes disappear once teams got through the first few hitters.
That’s not what this offense looks like anymore.
Bergeron suddenly looks healthy again and that completely changes the identity of LSU offensively. Then you add in Kylee Edwards swinging it at an elite level, Char Lorenz constantly getting on base, Sierra Daniel producing quality at bats, Tori heating back up, and Alix Franklin becoming one of the hottest and most fearless players on the roster.
Franklin feels like a huge X factor in this matchup. The power is showing up. The confidence is showing up. The defensive playmaking is showing up.
Then there’s Paytn Monticelli.
Six straight wins with a 0.50 ERA over her last 28 innings is not a fluke. She’s pitching with real confidence right now and LSU suddenly has multiple options in the circle throwing well at the same time.
That’s why I lean LSU in three.
Not because Alabama isn’t dangerous at home. They absolutely are. But LSU is healthier, deeper, and playing its best softball at exactly the right time.
#LSU hasn't been to the WCWS since 2017, but they have a national champion on their roster.
Transfer pitcher Paytn Monticelli won a natty with Oklahoma in 2024. She's using her experience to help her team get ready for Alabama and hopefully get back to OKC.
Can LSU go pitch for pitch with Alabama? The trio of Cece Cellura, Jayden Heavener, and Paytn Monticelli has pitched well of late; they'll be key in the Tuscaloosa Super Regional.
