I truly believe the Houston Rockets are sitting on a gold mine of potential.
They already have a strong young core that could elevate them into an elite tier; but getting there might require some really tough, unpopular decisions that not every fan will love.
Both paths I’m thinking about could realistically turn them into legitimate Championship contenders:
Route 1: Package players like Tari Eason, Jabari Smith Jr., Reed Sheppard, and Fred VanVleet in trades to bring in proven veterans or high-upside wings such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Lauri Markkanen, Jrue Holiday, Shaedon Sharpe, Trey Murphy III, Herbert Jones, John Collins, or Jalen Williams.
Ideal Starting Lineup: A+
🟢Sengun (Leo)
🟢Markannen (Gemini)
🟢Durant (Libra)
🟢Murphy III (Gemini)
🟢Thompson (Aquarius)
Route 2: Explore moving Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson and Kevin Durant to land a superstar like Donovan Mitchell, Nikola Jokic, Jaylen Brown, Luka Dončić, or Jaren Jackson Jr.
Ideal Starting Lineup: A+
🔵Jackson Jr. (Virgo)
🔵Smith Jr. (Taurus)
🔵Eason (Taurus)
🔵Mitchell (Virgo)
🔵VanVleet (Pisces)
@BradeauxNBA We have a good amount of wings, why not prioritize players like Jrue or Kyrie
Ball handling and depth with a shooter or 2> spending 4frp on trey murphy.
Another trade option for the Rockets if they’re looking to move FVV is Trey Murphy.
PERFECT 3/D wing for Houston, and his $27M lines up with FVV’s $25M..
Would cost 3/4 First Round Picks but he’d fit seamlessly with the roster.
2026-2027 Houston Rocksts
Fred Van Vleet
Amen Thompson
Kevin Durant
Jabari Smith Jr
Alp Sengun
Bench
Marcus Smart
Reed Shepard
Bogdan Bogdanović
Tari Eason
Steven Adams
Would love to see how Stone deals with the trade exception and capelas contract.
Would love to test out jabari or Tari small ball 5 lineups and use that money to get a offensive spark plug off the bench to finish out our roster.
Looking back at the playoffs
We needed players who can get those entry passes to senfun to initiate his offense, jabaris mid range shots, amens roll to the rim.
Fvv and Smart coming in already helps control our offensive tempo
Would love to see reed and Amen improve on their playmaking to help the team.
Using our Player Card Tool we can look any any players top 10 metrics
Alperen Sengun was great scoring in the post relative to shot quality, and he was very effective defending away from the basket in pick and roll

Charlotte acquires additional draft capital -- it has 20 second-rounders over the next 7 years and now the second-most tradeable picks in the NBA. The Rockets open roster flexibility after acquisitions of Marcus Smart and Bogdan Bogdanovic, plus create a $13 million trade exception.
The issue with this team is that it’s missing that spark guy. That guy who can give you the most random 30. Dfs and Capela combine for 20 million a year trading those 2 and picks for a six man of the year candidate should be the next move
Like the Knick’s said:
Fck them picks.
A current look at the expected 10 man rotation from the Houston Rockets:
Fred VanVleet || Reed Sheppard
Kevin Durant || Marcus Smart
Amen Thompson || Bogdan Bogdanović
Jabari Smith Jr. | Tari Eason
Alperen Şengün | Steven Adams
Knowing that the blazers are trying to save every penny
This trade could work. We save money to fit in smarts contract and resign Tari.
Jrue/Smart
Amen/Reed
Kd/Tari
Jabari/ Paul Reed
Sengun/ Steven Adam’s
Since acquiring Paul Reed, I would try and move Adam’s contract to get space and sign Luke kennard in a 3 team trade.
The Portland Trail Blazers have made Jrue Holiday available on the trade market, per @BrettSiegelNBA
“Plenty of teams are expected to express interest in Holiday in the wake of Morant being traded to the Blazers, and he has been said to be available in trade talks for Portland dating back to when they were eliminated from the postseason.”

BREAKING: The Charlotte Hornets are trading Miles Bridges, a 2029 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick to the Phoenix Suns for Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale and a 2033 first-round pick, sources tell ESPN.
With the recent news of FVV and his injury
I think buying in on depth and a backup PG that’s been in the playoffs before plus a volume shooter should be the main targets this summer. I would give this group one more year but bench depth over star power for now.
