So what exactly is Amoeba Farm?

We believe the Memory Shortage should be something you can trade.

That’s what we’ve built: a way to trade changes in memory and storage prices. We are unlocking markets which have never been accessible before.

If you think memory prices are going up, you should be able to put money behind that view without buying 500 sticks of physical RAM. You shouldn’t have to bet on a memory producer whose stock doesn’t track RAM prices 1:1.

Basically: you buy a contract based on whether you expect prices to rise or fall. Its payout depends on where our hardware price benchmark finishes, with a set maximum. The hard part about this is establishing a price people can trust. To do this, we bring together public price sources while letting people challenge bad data, and use published rules to calculate the result.

Memory and storage are the starting point. We plan to expand into other markets where pricing is opaque and everyday traders have had little access.
