2+ years into the pandemic, it’s time to acknowledge that health care professionals are not an inexhaustible resource.
Real change is needed to make sure that those who care for others, are well-cared for themselves.
Implementing great ideas below will make a big difference.
"...factor in the general failure of these approaches is that they did not acknowledge and address the needs of health care workers for meaningful connections with their patients, their institutions, and their colleagues."
And that's why we need programs like #3rdConversation!
Elevating the importance of #BuildingTrust between patients, their institutions & colleagues as an essential organizing principle is a key component to addressing the growing burnout epidemic accelerated by #COVID19. @AMorrisSinger@statnews

14/ But the reality is that this pandemic isn't over any time soon.
And I believe that if we want to avoid these awful situations where we have to choose between lockdowns and deaths we should give people the chance to know whether they are infectious or not.
This week, we at @AriadneLabs and @SurgoFoundation released a Vaccine Allocation Planner for states and cities to plan #COVID19vaccine distribution. As you start working with it, you realize just how wrenching the choices are going to be. https://t.co/2jiDaj3Yt5

"The millions of undecided voters who will determine this election are not actually stupid or deranged: They see with their own eyes how leaders within liberal institutions have wilted when confronted with mau-mauing from the woke left." from @jkirchick https://t.co/kBkKXf7tri
ALL of us have a story of our experience with Covid. Tell it here: https://t.co/h8f3j8L1G0 We are working with @PCareProgress and @TheIHI to create a COVID public awareness movement so that these stories are heard @donberwick@AMorrisSinger
@ohsufamilymed @ohsufamilymed @OHSUNews we're inspired by your efforts to mobilize in the face of #COVID19. this is clearly an allHandsOnDeck situation and we're glad we can help out. (however, our contribution really pales in comparison to the bravery of your frontline staff/providers)
GREAT interview w @danielmhorn https://t.co/Gg05fhoweo in @TheAtlantic on immediate need for #SocialDistancing to stem #COVID19. we need to talk to our employers, friends, family, co-workers to influence their behavior! NOW!
On behalf of everyone at PCP, please know we’re here for you and are eternally grateful for your work on the frontlines of healthcare. https://t.co/k24Fwr9qhM #covid19#coronavirus@AMorrisSinger
Dear hospital admin,
A mandatory learning module on #COVID19 isn’t helpful right now. We are fully aware of the risks we are currently taking on the front lines. We need adequate PPE and actual support.
Sincerely,
Every ER doctor
South Korea continues to show signs that its epidemic is abating, today reporting 74 new cases. Their massive testing effort aimed at identifying and isolating infected patients was no doubt a key part of their success in combatting virus, as were their early mitigation steps.
The issue of hospital capacity is a real problem. I will share this now pertaining to NY because Governor Cuomo shared these numbers today.
Brace yourself. The green and yellow bars are how many ICU beds (w vents) are needed. See the little red line? That’s how many we have.10/
We need an all hands approach to making our front line health care workers, nursing home staff & docs feel safe. Period. If not they will agitate & many wont show up.
People who can change this are aware and need to step up. 7/
