🎬📺Imfirmary (2026)😱 3.5/5 ⭐
Infirmary isn’t scary because the hospital is haunted.
It’s scary because Edward took a night shift at a place that did experiments on people just so he wouldn’t have to be alone with his own head.
The ghost is the least broken thing in that building.
Grave Encounters walked so Infirmary could jog the same hallway with a bodycam and a LinkedIn. 280,000 square feet, one Marine who “can’t sleep,” and a veteran guard who clocks out into the void. Shudder really said: what if security footage, but make it the whole movie.
Shot only on body and security cams inside a real abandoned hospital. No score telling you when to flinch. Just a first-night guard, a dead wing, and the feeling that the camera is the only witness who made it out. Pineda’s debut understands found footage better than most people who’ve made ten of them.
Infirmary is better than most “elevated” hospital horror because it refuses to explain the experiments. The second you tell me what they did in Wing C, it’s a Wikipedia page. Leave it ugly and unfinished. The baffled investigators are the point, not a flaw.
⭐Synopsis: Recovered bodycam. Rookie guard. Abandoned psych hospital. Sinister intruder. Investigators baffled. Runtime 85 minutes. Translation: a man films his own bad decision until the building finishes the sentence. Streaming on Shudder like a workplace incident report with better lighting.
I was at a jazz lounge last night, and as I'm sitting on the couch, grooving to some music, some dude walks up to me and says I have the prettiest eyes he's ever seen. I'm flattered, and I thank him. Then he sits right next to me, and asks me if I'm taken, I said no, and told him that I wasn't gay. He seems not to be bothered by it. We proceed to start talking about jazz. He starts ordering alcohol for the both of us, and we really start to dig each others company. To get to the point. Later in the conversation he starts rubbing my leg, and getting closer to me. I immediately shut him down, and I tell him again that I'm not interested in men. He starts to get all sad faced. I feel bad for him, and with all this alcohol in me, all I wanna do is make the dude feel a bit better. So I get real close to him. Look him square in the eye, and give him a kiss on the lips. He smiles. I thank him for the good time, and I leave the place.
🎬📺The Holdovers (2023)❤️3.5/5⭐
The Holdovers is the only Christmas movie that understands the holiday is mostly a room full of people who didn’t get invited anywhere else.
Paul Giamatti’s ancient-history teacher isn’t quirky. He’s a man who chose the past so he wouldn’t have to survive the present. That’s the whole film.
Every boarding-school movie wants you to root for the genius kid. The Holdovers looks at the genius kid, the bitter teacher, and the grieving cook and says: none of you are special, you’re just stuck, and stuck is where actual people live. Alexander Payne did that on purpose. Respectfully, most comfort movies are cowards.
Da’Vine Joy Randolph doesn’t steal The Holdovers. She holds the floor while everyone else performs their loneliness. The scene where she says her son is gone and the room has to sit with it is the best acting of 2023. No speech. No score swell. Just a woman who already knows the ending.
⭐Synopsis: A classics teacher, a delinquent, and a cafeteria manager are trapped at a prep school over Christmas.
By New Year they’ve committed the only crime that still matters in a Payne movie: they told the truth once and couldn’t take it back. Five stars. Bring tissues and a grudge against your family group chat.
I met a guy in college. We were in a chill summer class of like 12 people. I was in this class due to a mistake from my advisor and he was in the class because he was short 3 credits from graduating. He tried everything he could to get out of it, but couldn’t.
I remember seeing him walk in and I had this inexplicable feeling like a switch being turned on. I was so drawn to him and couldn’t understand why. It was immediate butterflies, which didn’t happen to me often.
On the first day, we were sitting on opposite sides of the class, but on the second day, he sat near where I was sitting the day before and I instinctively knew that he wanted to be near me and that it wasn’t a coincidence. We started talking and found out we had weird things in common. Same favorite books and authors, similar upbringing, creepily similar senses of humor. We clicked instantly. We also had both just experienced profound trauma the month before the summer class, so we bonded over our individual losses that we experienced.
We found out that we both lived along the same train line an hour away from the school, and we lived 2 train stops apart. So we started taking the train home together.
We were in a science class and we were doing mini experiments. One girls experiment had to do with being in the dark and having our pupils dilate (I forgot exactly what it involved and what it was for). Of course, when we were picked by her for the experiment, we were put into a dark room alone, just us two. Let’s just say you could cut the tension with a knife. I felt like a preteen with raging hormones. My stomach was in knots as we sat there and talked in the dark, with his silky voice.
Part 2:
We started meeting up before class and grabbing drinks after class. We would sit at the bar until it got dark, talking for 5–6 hours sometimes. On the last day of class, we decided to cut class and spend the day together instead. He told me that he felt the same pull when he first saw me and that he did move his seat on purpose to be closer to me.
We fell so in love, I felt like I was in a romcom. At this point we were texting and FaceTiming 24/7. He was always in my pocket if we weren’t physically together. He would wake up, text me the second he opened his eyes and we’d fall asleep together on FaceTime.
One night, he drove us by the water and parked the car so we had a nice view. He leaned his seat back and was looking at me like he was trying to memorize my face and body. When we kissed, it felt electric, which I know is cliche, but literally it felt like a magnetic pull.
We fell deeper and deeper in love, in a way I thought was only reserved for novels and movies. To have it so completely reciprocated was insane for me, too. I was very shy and reserved, so he did most of the pursuing, but I reciprocated everything.
We couldn’t stay away from each other. All we wanted to do was talk and be near each other. When we went out women AND men looked at us with envy because it was so obvious that we were so happy in love. Physically, we were so compatible.
Looking back it was so cheesy, but it was undeniable. Turns out, he had a girlfriend the whole time. I spiraled into a deep depression for 2 years after because I couldn’t understand or accept what had happened. I spent 2 years crying everyday, multiple times a day. I never healed from the trauma that had happened the month before we met.

The truck isn’t even the problem. He told her he was saving for their future while spending $32,500 on something he wanted. She was making plans around a promise he apparently wasn’t making plans around.
I had a girlfriend who kept saying she couldn’t afford to come see me. It took one weekend for me to understand what she meant.
My girlfriend said she couldn’t afford a $230 flight to see me.
Two weeks later, she paid for a weekend in Miami for three of her friends.
We’d been doing long distance for almost a year because of her new job. I usually flew to her. If I couldn’t get away, I drove the six hours. She came to me twice.
I brought it up once, and she showed me her budget. Rent had gone up. She had a car payment. I felt bad for asking.
So I stopped asking.
For my birthday, I couldn’t get enough time off to travel. I told her I’d love it if she came, even just for dinner and the next morning.
She said she wanted to, but the flight was too much right now.
We stayed on the phone that night until I fell asleep.
Honestly, I thought that was sweet.
The following Friday, she posted a video from a hotel balcony in Miami. I liked it. I knew her friend’s birthday was coming up, and I figured they’d all split the cost.
Then one of her friends posted: “Still can’t believe she treated all of us to this.”
Lanterns quietly changed something about Hal Jordan that might be far more important than it looks.
Hal spent years being defined by the idea that a Green Lantern is chosen because they can overcome fear.
But this version of Hal is being reconstructed piece by piece, and the more we learn about his past, the less he looks like the flawless legendary Lantern everyone remembers.
That changes how we should look at his death too.
Maybe the real mystery isn’t just who killed Hal Jordan.
It’s how much of the Hal Jordan everyone believed in was actually true.
The warm glow of the neighborhood bistro always made it feel a world away from the rush of the city.
Sitting across the wooden table, the shared laughter over a late afternoon lunch felt effortless.
They had known each other for years, yet tonight carried a distinct, electric shift.
When the check arrived, he reached for it with a quiet smile, whispering words that had been building in his heart for months.
We've seen Wanda's answer to grief: rewrite reality until it protects what you lost. Vision doesn't get that option. He IS the thing that was supposed to protect and failed so what does an AI do when it can't rewrite the world, only itself?
