Capturing the Sun Straight out of Chinese Paintings at Tianmen Mountain
Nestled amidst the mist - enshrouded peaks of Tianmen Mountain, I chanced upon a sight that seemed plucked right from the pages of an ancient Chinese painting—the sun. As the first rays peeked through the wispy clouds, it was as if a celestial artist had taken a brush to the sky.
The sun, a warm orb, cast a golden glow over the rugged landscape. Its light danced on the craggy rocks and lush greenery, creating a play of light and shadow that was nothing short of magical. Every contour of the mountain was bathed in this soft, ethereal light, much like the gentle strokes in a Chinese ink - wash painting.
I quickly raised my camera, eager to capture this moment. Click! The shutter sound echoed, freezing in time the sun that had emerged from the realm of Chinese art. In that single frame, the essence of Tianmen Mountain and the allure of the sun - a symbol of hope and vitality - were perfectly intertwined. It was a visual masterpiece, a testament to the harmonious beauty of nature, and a memory I'll cherish forever.

Heilongjiang, a province in China's far north, is a treasury of intangible cultural heritage. Its rich and diverse intangible cultural heritage reflects the unique charm of this land deeply influenced by ethnic cultures and historical traditions.
One of the most remarkable is the赫哲族鱼皮画 (Hezhen ethnic Fish Skin Painting). The Hezhen people, with their close connection to fishing, have created a unique art form. They carefully select fish skins, which are then processed and transformed into canvases. The artists use their dexterous hands and vivid imaginations to depict scenes of hunting, fishing, and tribal life on the fish skins. These paintings, with their unique textures and bright colors, not only record the history and culture of the Hezhen people but also showcase their respect and love for nature.
Another outstanding example is the 东北二人转 (Northeast Errenzhuan, a song-and-dance due popular in the Northeast of China). This lively and humorous folk art combines singing, dancing, and comedic acting. The performers, with their exaggerated expressions and vivid body movements, tell stories of daily life, love, and folk legends. The unique rhythm of the music and the witty dialogue make the audience burst into laughter and fully immerse themselves in the joyous atmosphere.
The 满族剪纸 (Manchu Paper-cutting) is also a gem of Heilongjiang's intangible cultural heritage. The Manchu people use scissors and paper to create intricate patterns. These paper-cuts often feature elements such as animals, plants, and traditional totems, symbolizing good luck, prosperity, and cultural heritage. They are used to decorate windows, doors, and rooms during festivals and celebrations, adding a strong festive atmosphere.
These intangible cultural heritages of Heilongjiang are not only artistic creations but also the spiritual sustenance and cultural roots of the local people. They have withstood the test of time and are still shining brightly today, waiting for people from all over the world to discover and appreciate their unique charm.
