STRIDES, the most comprehensive randomised controlled trial ever to evaluate strategies to prevent faints in whole blood donors, suggest standard practices may not benefit from additional interventions. Thank you @NIHRresearch@NHSBT and all who took part https://t.co/IsDDYSEVa3

On #WorldBloodDonorDay we thank👏our blood donors who generously donate for research and to save lives. The results from our INTERVAL trial underpin @NHSBT's policy of a max donation frequency of every 12 and 16 weeks for men and women, respectively. https://t.co/QDyO0iOKcu #WBDD
Today is #WorldBloodDonorDay! Every few seconds, someone, somewhere needs blood.
Thank you to everyone who donates. ❤
We're delighted that more people than ever will now be able to save lives by giving blood as new eligibility rules come into effect. https://t.co/VKerY6XbSc

STRIDES, our current study, is testing ways to improve the blood donation process. It recently reached the milestone of recruiting a million donors: https://t.co/ry0TRUOZDC
INTERVAL showed that more frequent donation was more likely to deplete donors’ iron stores. COMPARE, the largest ever diagnostic accuracy study in blood donation, compared methods for testing haemoglobin levels and resulted in process changes at @NHSBT: https://t.co/rLU3XNl0dY
INTERVAL was the first-ever trial to examine the frequency of blood donation on donor health & the blood supply. The most frequent interval resulted in more blood being donated & more frequent donation didn't have any major negative effects for donors. https://t.co/OcQCGEHCYB
We've been working to improve blood donor health for +10 years. Our research would not be possible w/o the generous participation of blood donors—giving samples & data, sitting on committees, providing feedback or spreading the word about our work. Thank you! #WorldBloodDonorDay
Blood donation rules are changing from Monday!
All donors will be asked the same gender-neutral questions when they come to give blood. We're excited to move to a more inclusive process where more people than ever will be able to save lives. ❤️
So happy for everyone involved in this huge study incl. @DonorHealthBTRU, @NHSBT_RD, @NIHRBioResource and most importantly all blood donors! What an achievement!! Feeling proud that I get to be involved and coordinate the study 😊
STRIDES STUDY REACHES MILLION-DONOR MILESTONE🩸 STRategies to Improve Donor ExperienceS (#STRIDES) study is considering the effect of different interventions on the blood donation experience. Find out more here: https://t.co/yQqtOp2lvV @NHSBT@NIHRresearch & @Cambridge_Uni
Delighted to announce publication of the COMPARE study results! This is the largest study reporting head‐to‐head comparisons of four methods to measure haemoglobin prior to blood donation & the results have had direct translational implications for @NHSBT: https://t.co/uKWp1x2eID
Check out the latest INTERVAL Study newsletter: https://t.co/xvGmJ1Q6ji Updates on the TRACK-COVID study and using health record data; and an introduction to a simple-to-use DNA test for determining exact blood type. @BTRUinStemCells @NHSBT_RD
Pre-pandemic samples from our COMPARE Study contributed to this important work - thank you to our blood donors for making this research possible. @BTRU_ODT @BTRUinStemCells @AshToye_Bristol@NHSBT_RD@CambridgeBRC
