Nature writers - how did you initially get your writing out there? My goal next year going into my second year of my PhD is to begin getting my poems/writing out there - my DREAM is to write for @WWTworldwide and @Natures_Voice - it is my life goal to make it happen!!
. @DerekTwiggMP Natureโs in crisis! We call on politicians to put nature at the heart of decision-making in order to secure natureโs recovery by 2030 and safeguard all our futures. Please act now #NatureCantWait
Does anyone have a copy, or knows someone who has a copy of 'Green Romanticism: The Natural World and Human Well-Being, 1775-1900' by Stephen E. Hunt?
I am in desperate need of it, and my university library will not purchase it. ๐ญ
My PhD insta has hit over 200 followers now which makes me so happy ๐ฅน I want to meet more people who love Mary Oliver - if you're interested in my research please follow me on there!
It is especially hard to study and write on bank holidays - everyone is so noisy! Each day reaffirms my need to lean into my swamp witch lifestyle and live in isolation.
'And God,
please let the deer
on the highway
get some kind of heaven.
Something with tall soft grass
and sweet reunion.'
I haven't been able to stop thinking about this poem it has broken my heart in the best way.
'Just yesterday I watched an ant crossing a path, through the tumbled pine needles she toiled.
And I thought: she will never live another life but this one.
And I thought: if she lives her life with all her strength is she not wonderful and wise?'
-Mary Oliver - Reckless poem
'And did you feel it, in your heart, how it pertained to everything?
And have you too finally figured out what beauty is for?
And have you changed your life?
- Mary Oliver, 'The Swan'.
'When it is over, it's over, and we don't know
any of us, what happens then.
So I try not to miss anything.
I think, in my whole life, I have never missed
the full moon
or the slipper of its coming back.
Or, a kiss.
Well, yes, especially a kiss.'
- 'When' by Mary Oliver.
