I feel like he was characterized perfectly in chapter 5! We got to see more of his neglectful nature and how it played into ruining his own relationships with others! I loved seeing his dynamics with the flowers as and how even with his "perfect family" he still ruins it

I think the biggest reason why people complained about Asgore not fighting us this chapter is because people still fail to understand that Asgore from Undertale and Asgore from Deltarune are two different characters with very different goals. Asgore has no reason to fight here

Like yes we can use Undertale as a basis and for more depth for his character but the fact of the matter is t that as far as we know (and until stated otherwise) this is a parallel story and Asgore is way more less likely to fight us in Deltarune as compared to Undertale
