We’re building a database of hospital birth data that examines quality and patient safety through the expectations, experiences & expressions of Black mothers and birthing people.
Together we will #EndObstetricRacism
Spread the word! Thx!
Yeah, my mom and dad's interracial marriage was illegal until I was a year old and then--later--they struggled to buy a home in their Long Island community because people didn't want to sell to a Black lady. Good times!
It’s not right for everyone, clearly depends on several factors, but try having someone else do the rocking/walking/swaying. While it’s sweet that a baby thinks it’s mom/parent is perfect and omnipotent, with someone else it’s like the baby’s expectations are lower?
and yet today of all days is when @KetchamPaul and @BatesvilleCorp choose to promote intolerance and transphobia by attempting to sabotage and erase a *child* away from home on his high school band trip.
🏳️⚧️It's Transgender Day of Visibility🏳️⚧️
Every day, but even more so today, we celebrate the pride, power and resilience of our trans and non-binary community. #TDOV
Thx @PennNursing for putting me $312,000 in debt so I could be a midwife!!! So proud to have shared that with the @PADemPolicy committee yesterday while testifying on allowing advanced practice clinicians to provide abortion.
@KraftSheley @hannahmsays With a few lovely exceptions, L&D has some of the judgiest, snarkiest, meanest staff who are more than ready to egg each other on in their intolerance.
@virutandon31@endohan@rgay -Only transphobes believe that only women can get pregnant.
-‘They’ refers to her not becoming pregnant alone but by being impregnated by a monster. Victims aren’t responsible to bear labels forced upon them. Not homeless but unhoused by X. Not slaves but people enslaved by X.
the fact that this comment blew up, in just a few hours, with several stories of similar cases…
think of how prevalent this is.
how many excuses have been made.
@rgay flashback to when I was a nursing student on my pediatric rotation at the hospital, and we were caring for a 12 year old in a permanent coma who had been living in a nursing home... but was admitted to the hospital when they discovered she was pregnant.
