Six months ago we published an explosive insider account from Jamie Reed, a former employee of Washington University’s pediatric gender clinic.
@jamiewhistle described vulnerable adolescents with multiple mental health problems being rushed into life-altering treatments that included possible sterilization.
We were dismissed. We were accused of running an unverified story. Prominent journalists, instead of following up on this important news, denounced us.
Today @nytimes confirmed much of our whistleblower’s account, citing patients who sought to reverse their transition, and young people with complex mental health problems being put on powerful drugs.
@sabrevaya Same thing when you’ve got cancer or are grieving or broke or going through anything difficult. Extend the invitation with the message you understand if the person can’t make it but hope s/he can. Don’t assume.
@GHFan10130 I feel bad for Curtis. Portia isn’t respecting Curtis’s boundaries for space while he adjusts. She thinks she knows better what he needs in the same way she think she knows better what Trina needs as is disregarding Trina’s boundaries.
@NancySinatra Think of all the tragedies that places recover from. New Orleans and Katrina, Haiti and earthquakes, Puerto Rico. It’s sad because fire is scary and too many people died. They deserve our support. People are strong, they’ll rebuild. Our despondency helps no one.
