Cooper DeJean attended a Class 1A school called Odebolt Arthur Battle Creek Ida Grove (OABCIG) High School with an enrollment of 306 students and grew up in Odebolt, Iowa which has less than 1,000 people. That pick 6 was for all of the small town kids in America. #SuperBowl

Regardless what happens for the balance of the season or even the playoffs, this is how I feel. (Long read, but I hope worth it)
I came into WBB rooting for the girl from Iowa who decided to stay close to home and really put a program on the map.
We were told her skills wouldn’t translate to the WNBA, she’s too weak, too slow, and can’t create her own shots. We were told, she’s a child among grown women essentially. That she would be in for a reality check, and we’re made to believe that it would take years to adjust to do what she was doing in college, if she ever did.
They gave her and her team literally next to no practice time, and threw one of the most difficult schedules the WNBA has ever had at her. They put her in a situation that literally no Point Guard could have been successful.
They brought up race, and sexuality when she got her sneaker contract. Continued to minimize her skill set, and the fact she hasn’t won a championship in college. They wanted her to speak out and condemn her fans, as if her fan base was any different than any other, aside from the fact it’s much larger.
They left her off the Olympic team, and told us she wasn’t talented enough, and wasn’t even close to being a top player in the league.
As her numbers continued to climb, and wins started to accrue, we were told she’s not the Rookie of the Year, because the Sky were higher in the standings, or because the team would make the playoffs without her, or because she has too many turnovers, despite continually breaking WNBA records.
And here we are now, more wins than the Fever have had in the last 2 years combined, with a secured playoff spot, holding a 6th seed and looking for more, leading the league in 3 pointers made, on the cusp of breaking the All Time WNBA Assist Record, as well as the Rookie Scoring Record, and making her amazing teammates better, as they make her better.
So regardless of what happens, hearing all the doubters and gatekeepers in the media, forced to acknowledge that she was talented enough, and that she is the generational player that us, the fans have always believed, makes whatever happens for the balance of the season a bonus. #WNBA #FeverRising
