I had never watched the WNBA in my life until Caitlin Clark started playing.
Not because I was against it. I just never cared enough to turn it on.
Now I actually pay attention because she is fun to watch. She plays fast, she sees the court, she makes passes most people don’t even see coming, and she has made women’s basketball part of normal sports conversation in a way I have never seen before.
That should be a good thing.
Instead it feels like half the league is annoyed that she brought all these new eyes with her.
And I’m sorry, but the stuff she deals with is insane. Basketball is physical. I get that. Nobody needs to baby her. But there is a big difference between tough defense and the weird extra stuff that keeps happening.
The funniest part is Caitlin usually just gets up and keeps playing, which probably makes people even more mad.
She didn’t ruin the WNBA.
She made a whole bunch of people finally watch it. They need to be grateful.
One item that is NOT debatable is the FACT that @CaitlinClark22 CAITLIN CLARK win or lose today has been the MOST IMPACTFUL PERSON in growing the popularity of WOMEN’S BASKETBALL . The tv ratings -sell out crowds -media coverage & public relations exposure PROVE THAT TO BE TRUE !
I totally disagree that a major factor to being the GOAT in any sport should be defined by the number of championships u have won . That is a TEAM achievement & the cast with the STAR has a major role in that success .@ESPNPR status - via @ESPN App https://t.co/gBFgWBxp0f
