Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, AVSM assumed command of #ANC as the 20th #CINCAN on 01 Jun 2026. Marking the occasion, he laid a wreath and subsequently reviewed the combined services Guard of Honour at #ANC, India's Tri-Service Operational Command.

A seasoned Flag Officer, he has commanded frontline warships, the Western Fleet, and held key appointments as Commandant, Indian Naval Academy; India's Defence Adviser to Singapore; and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Doctrine, Organisation & Training), contributing significantly to joint capability development and maritime security.

Operational Readiness and Capability Enhancement

The conclave also deliberated on the Command’s vision, future planning and priorities for the next 25 years.

Joint Services Parade Marks 25 Years of Jointness & Service

Marking the Silver Jubilee of the raising of #ANC, a Joint Services Parade was held at Brichgunj Parade Ground and reviewed by #CINCAN in the presence of former CINCANs and the military fraternity. The occasion also witnessed the release of the First Day Cover and an Investiture Ceremony, during which Unit Citations & Appreciation awards were presented.

To commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the Andaman & Nicobar Command, INSV Neelkanth sailed out from Vishakhapatnam with crew of ANC and ENC.

It completed a challenging 700 NM ocean passage from Visakhapatnam and was ceremonially flagged-in at Sri Vijaya Puram by Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, AVSM on 06 Oct 26.

A stirring voyage of seamanship, endurance, jointmanship and maritime valour, carrying the Silver Jubilee spirit across the Bay of Bengal.

Maritime Medical Evacuation | Swift Response at Sea

On receipt of information regarding a medical emergency at sea, #ANC swiftly coordinated an early-morning #MedicalEvacuation on 04 Oct 26, involving a Vietnamese national onboard merchant vessel MT Sun 09, who had sustained an injury.

A ship of #NavalComponent proceeded to the vicinity of #IndiraPoint, evacuated the casualty through boat operations and provided immediate first aid onboard. Following stabilisation of vital parameters, the casualty was safely transferred to #CampbellBay for further medical treatment.

The prompt and coordinated response reaffirmed #ANC’s commitment to #MaritimeSafety and #SavingLivesAtSea.

The delegation gained insights into the operational, logistical and strategic dimensions of India’s only Tri-Service Command, with a focus on the complexities of the island and maritime domains.

A 15-member delegation of the 66th National Defence College Course, led by Maj Gen Pawan Pal Singh VSM, #NDC, visited Andaman & Nicobar Command as part of its Forward Area Tour. The delegation included five officers from friendly foreign countries — #Nepal, #Egypt, #Maldives, #Myanmar and #Nigeria — fostering international military cooperation and professional exchange.

The delegation was briefed on the operational and logistical aspects of India’s first and only Tri-Service Command, gaining insights into the operational environment and challenges in the islands & maritime domain.

Maritime Medical Evacuation | Rough Seas, Swift Response

On receipt of information from #MRCC #SriVijayaPuram, #CGRHQ(A&N), under the aegis of #ANC, swiftly coordinated a challenging night-time #MedicalEvacuation during the intervening night of 24–25 Sep 26, involving a 32-year-old #Myanmar national onboard a merchant vessel off #CampbellBay, who sustained severe hand injuries following an accident onboard.

Despite rough seas and darkness, an Indian Coast Guard ship safely reached the merchant vessel, embarked the injured crew member and brought him to #CampbellBay Harbour. The casualty was subsequently handed over to the local agent and shifted to the Primary Health Centre, Campbell Bay, for further medical care.

The swift and coordinated response reaffirmed #ANC’s commitment to #MaritimeSafety and #SavingLivesAtSea.
