Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, AVSM assumed command of #ANC as the 20th #CINCAN on 01 Jun 2026. Marking the occasion, he laid a wreath and subsequently reviewed the combined services Guard of Honour at #ANC, India's Tri-Service Operational Command.

A seasoned Flag Officer, he has commanded frontline warships, the Western Fleet, and held key appointments as Commandant, Indian Naval Academy; India's Defence Adviser to Singapore; and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Doctrine, Organisation & Training), contributing significantly to joint capability development and maritime security.

Strengthening Marine Pollution Response 🌊

A six-day #OPRC Level 1 & #HNS Introductory Course was conducted by #PollutionResponseTeamSVP, bringing together #ICG personnel, components of #ANC and representatives from #ANPolice, #PMF, #ForestDepartment, #FireService, #DirectorateOfShippingServices & #DirectorateOfDisasterManagement.

Through hands-on training in #OilSpillResponse and #HNS spill management, the course enhanced operational skills, preparedness, teamwork and seamless inter-agency coordination, enabling a swift and effective response to #MarinePollution incidents and helping keep our seas clean and safe. 🇮🇳🌊

Maritime Search and Rescue MV Ocean Winner

Following a distress alert from M.V. Ocean Winner on 22 Aug 26 in position 300nm NNW of Diglipur, HQANC, in close coordination with MRCC(A&N) CGRHQ(A&N), HQENC and CGRHQ(NE), swiftly coordinated SAR efforts and deployed ships and MR aircraft. Sustained monitoring and focused aerial search by Indian Navy P8I led to the successful detection of 02 floating liferaft and oil slick near the reported position. Currently two survivors have been safely rescued by MV AOSPOS. Search efforts continue and are currently in progress.

INTERACTION WITH FISHING COMMUNITY

An interaction with owners & masters of fishing boats was conducted by #CGRHQ(A&N), under the aegis of #ANC, with active participation from the fishing community and Dept of Fisheries, A&N Administration.

The interaction sensitised fisherfolk on Maritime Search & Rescue (MSAR), appropriate activation of Distress Alert Transmitter (DAT), carriage of lifesaving & safety equipment and procedures during law enforcement operations at sea. A Safety Guide Book for Fishermen at Sea was also distributed.

The engagement reinforced the role of the fishing community in strengthening coastal security through awareness, vigilance & participation.

Mid-Year Refit & Infrastructure Review (MYRR & MYIR)

Mid-Year Refit Review (MYRR) and Mid-Year Infrastructure Review (MYIR) of #ANC and #ENC of #IndianNavy were conducted on 19���20 Aug 26 at Naval Ship Repair Yard, Sri Vijaya Puram, under #HQANC.

Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, AVSM, CINCAN, interacted with the delegates, while Vice Admiral B Sivakumar, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Materiel, delivered the keynote address.

The Reviews, chaired by the Chief of Materiel and attended by all stakeholders, deliberated upon refit plans, operational availability of ships/submarines and progress in infrastructure augmentation. The Chief of Materiel lauded the progress in maintenance and sustenance of ANC units, highlighting the strategic importance of ANC and the growing significance of timely and quality maintenance in enhancing combat efficiency and sustaining operational readiness.

OP FALCON | 12 POACHERS APPREHENDED BY #ANC 🇮🇳

Defending the nation’s territorial integrity and safeguarding the marine heritage of the archipelago, #ANC successfully culminated #OpFalcon with the apprehension of 12 poachers, following a gruelling 200-hour-long search operation through the dense tropical jungles of North Andaman.

The operation witnessed seamless coordination between the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard and #ANPolice. The integration of persistent aerial, maritime and ground surveillance, coupled with the unwavering resolve of forces on ground, resulted in the successful apprehension of the foreign poachers.

The successful culmination of #OpFalcon underscores the jointness, operational readiness and resolve of #ANC in safeguarding national interests, coastal integrity and the rich marine ecosystem of the Andaman & Nicobar archipelago. 🇮🇳

Committed to Aid to Civil Authority, #ANC swiftly responded to a request from the civil administration at Campbell Bay after a truck fell into the sea near RCC Jetty.

#HQANC promptly tasked #INSBaaz, whose specialised Naval Diving Team successfully salvaged the vehicle, restoring safe berthing and movement of DSS ships and ensuring continuity of essential passenger and cargo services.

On 09 Aug 26, while maintaining the security of national waters and safeguarding coastal integrity, #ANC intercepted and apprehended an unauthorised boat. The intruders have been localised near Diglipur.

A coordinated search operation by #ANC and #ANPolice led to the apprehension of three poachers. The presence of additional poachers in the area is suspected, and the search operation remains in progress.the intruders have been localised

The operation reflects continued vigilance, swift response and effective joint efforts to safeguard our waters and marine wildlife.

Setting Sail Towards Operational Excellence

Six Officers and 13 Sailors of #ANC are currently undergoing the Day Skipper Course at the Indian Naval Watermanship Training Centre (INWTC), Visakhapatnam, under the expert guidance of instructors from the Ocean Sailing Node, Goa.

On successful completion, they will form the Andaman & Nicobar Command Sailing Team, strengthening seamanship, leadership, teamwork and operational readiness through adventure-based training.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding likely poaching activity, #IndianCoastGuard units of #ANC, in close coordination with the Andaman & Nicobar Police Marine Force, conducted a swift joint operation on the intervening night of 28–29 Jul 26, resulting in the seizure of a poacher boat carrying approximately 300 kg of illegally harvested #SeaCucumber off Smith Island, North Andaman. In a subsequent search operation, one poacher was apprehended at Shanti Nagar, Diglipur. The operation to nab balance of the poachers is still underway.

The operation reaffirms ANC’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding India’s maritime frontiers, protecting marine biodiversity and strengthening inter-agency coordination.

On #CPRDay, INHS Dhanvantari conducted certified hands-on CPR training for 164 teachers, staff and students of NCS & KV2, Sri Vijaya Puram. Through practical mannequin-based sessions, participants gained essential life-saving skills and the confidence to respond effectively during medical emergencies.
