“Asian” as a banner and a term of solidarity and strategic essentialism is important, but the specificity of which Asians are being targeted and are associated w the precarity of sex work and why is also important
Past 24 hours:
- anniversary of the Mỹ Lai massacre
- Biden deported 33 Vietnamese refugees
- ATL massage parlor shooting
It's never lost on me that America ravaged my motherland, now we're here, and they still can't stop ravaging us.
Imagine being less than 24 hours out from losing your loved one(s) and hearing law enforcement defend their murderer by saying “He was fed up, at the end of his rope...yesterday was a really bad day for him and this is what he did.” That feels like an additional hate crime.
Of course Tankies are seizing the opportunity to link anti-Asian violence to criticism of the CCP, ignoring that the CCP engages in imperial anti-Asian violence itself and that the eradication of sex workers is often hailed as a benchmark of success under Auth Comm regimes.

A lot of nominal “anti-racists” seem to buy into model minority myths when it comes to dealing with racism against Asians, viewing them as relatively privileged. This is deeply historically (and contemporarily) ignorant.
So much of Asian Americanist discourse is trapped by assimilationist frameworks. What if we entertained the possibility that it is not simply that we are treated as if we don't belong, but that we actually do not belong because this country is our enemy
Of the 3,800 reported racist incidents against Asians in the US this last year, almost 70% of victims were Asian women, a new report says. from @kimmythepooh https://t.co/2WN4wjiPIh
White supremacy claimed the lives of 8 Asian women today. The perception of Asians as weak and docile is tied to why women and elders are the targets of these attacks and why white supremacists often have Asian fetishes. Imperial domination over our lands and bodies are tied.
Anti-Asian racism isn’t un-American—it’s quintessentially American. You can’t kill millions of Asians across the Pacific for a whole ass century in the name of America and then out of nowhere say that anti-Asian racism is un-American. That’s just lying.
"But they are too young to understand racism"
Dear white people, at what age do you think the world let's Black and Brown children realise that they are Black and Brown respectively.
Don't use age as an excuse to avoid combating racism and white supremacy.
#AccomplicesNotAllies remains an indictment of artificial declarations of "allyship," it is not a prop for woke theatrics. We invite you to read the original zine & implicate yourself in anti-colonial struggle. https://t.co/tfEKwKi2cN
lil baby’s grammy performance, judas & the black messiah,” & the forthcoming marcus garvey movie should worry us.
we are in the cultural moment wherein the ruling class is openly co-opting + commodifying revolution & selling it back to us.
