Good thing I'm home with my family who are my reality checks. I almost forgot break was "here". As a final year doctoral candidate I've been all gas, no breaks.
When y’all say “after the break we will…” in your emails this week, WHEN exactly are you talking about, because I am personally already overwhelmed through 2024 at this point 😂
Today I finally chose rest. I've been pushing so hard for weeks so I may actually enjoy some Winter Break. After a short advisor chat this morning, I've embraced " 'tis the season". The end is nearer yet I still must take care of myself as a whole person.
Things I learned this week: seek the postdoc fellowship lest waiting endlessly. Also, pursue what you want to be known by...Wheeeew stakes just went up.

Over the past month (actually over the past 4 years), I've become a tad bit better able to let go and grow. I'm finding my passion again as I push onward towards the finish line and I'm leaning into mentorship to guide what's next.
Thanks to the most high for will and grace.
#ISES2023 was a success. Gave an oral presentation and connected with some great researchers. Even when the days are long and weary, I love this research life.
The first time I heard about a PhD I thought, "That's not for me. Nothing is worth 5 years of my life." Then I started teaching and realized, in exchange for helping 1 student realize their dreams, 5 years is pretty cheap.
Yesterday I successfully defended for the 1 🥳🎉🎈#phd
Who doesn’t cry though the whole phd experience?!? Cried when I was accepted, cried during it, crying while writing it. I’ve cried both sad and happy tears throughout the whole degree. Thankfully lately there are more happy tears than anxiety-ridden ones. No regrets. #phdvoice
