@BenGFreeman1@jamesTstroud I also remember and had a video somewhere of a Gold-ringed Tanager catching a lizard (Gymnophtalmus sp) and taking it probably to a nest.
This is hard to believe even for me, but we just got another new bird for Colombia in almost exactly the same spot as yesterday’s Piping Plover 🤯

@MatthewHalley Well done! I don't findb the C. opertaneus to extend outside of Colombia in the map shown in the beginning of this thread. Endemic or not?
This made my day: the sharp birder Juanda Ramírez relocated "el campanero" (𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒏𝒊𝒂𝒔 𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒐) for Colombia, on NW Perijá https://t.co/mgLkuXammY
The Bearded Bellbird was formerly known in 🇨🇴 from 2 males collected by Carriker in June 1941 at roughly the same area
Exciting news for Colombian birds!
I show that the Yellow-headed Manakin is an ENDEMIC species of Colombia, in my latest research in @OrnitologiaCol.
This rare manakin was believed to also occur in Ecuador, but not anymore!
Here's how I uncovered its TRUE distribution🧵
Peter Kaestner wanted to be the first person in the world to see 10,000 species of birds (there are only about 11,000 known today, depending on who you ask). Grab your binoculars and join @jl_williamson on this quest. https://t.co/ms5gmF8In3
@CasualBirderPod In Colombia guiding a birding trip:
1. Streak-chested Antpitta in full view
2. Variable Hawk
3. Ultramarine Grosbeak singing by a highway
4. Black-and-chesnut Eagle perched on a croisse
5. Yellow-eared Parrots, many of them
